"This is our access to God. Not because we think more clearly. Not because we live more righteously. That, Paul said, would give occasion for people to boast. But God sending His Son as our Messiah, our Christ, to live for us and die for us turns our exertions on their heads and reminds us that the goodness of God in bringing us to that salvation is a matter of grace, not a matter of our achievement."
